After identifying a gap in their program offering, Melbourne Central Basketball Association (MCBA) recently leveraged a Ford Aussie Hoops grant to expand their community engagement programs. They applied under the inclusion initiative stream to host a free Come N’ Try Wheelchair Basketball Day, aiming to provide a fun and inclusive experience while introducing players to their Ford Aussie Hoops Wheelchair program starting in Term 1.
The response has been incredible, with participation growing every week!
Already Making an Impact
Emilee Whittle-Harmon, Basketball Development Manager, Melbourne Central Basketball Association was excited to see their grant in action,"the Ford Aussie Hoops Wheelchair Come N’ Try Day was incredible! Abby, Josie, Chase, and Bailey had a great time trying out wheelchair basketball. They learned from Australian Gliders coach Craig Campbell and Red Dust Heelers player Chithic Machar, who inspired everyone with their knowledge and passion for the sport. It’s clear we might have some future Gliders and Rollers in our midst!"
Don’t miss this opportunity to make a difference in your community!
