The 2025 Under-12 Junior Country Championships delivered an unforgettable weekend of basketball action, with crowds packing stadiums across all three days of competition. The atmosphere was electric, as families, fans, and the community turned out in force to support the next generation of country basketball stars.
There were standout stories across the board, with regional teams making strong impressions and delivering thrilling performances.
The Meeniyan U12 Boys had a stellar run, reaching the Division 4 Quarter Final, showcasing their growth and determination on the big stage.
A feel-good story came from Rochester, where the U12 Girls made a triumphant return to the championships, advancing all the way to the Division 5 Semi Final. It had been many years since Rochester fielded an U12 girls team, making their weekend performance a proud and emotional moment for the club and its supporters.
Shepparton was the talk of Day 2, earning the unofficial title of double-overtime champs. Both the U12 Boys and Girls teams went into intense double-overtime battles - and both emerged victorious in critical matchups, drawing cheers and admiration from all around.
The U12 Boys Division 1 and 2 competitions were especially fierce, with multiple games decided by razor-thin margins and overtime. The tight contests highlighted just how evenly matched the top teams were, with every possession and play counting toward victory.
