Camberwell 116 Def. Western Port 113
An exciting overtime performance between Camberwell and Western Port with some extraordinary individual performances from numerous players. After a foul from Theobald, James Guley was sent to the line to put the Dragons up by 1 point with less than a minute left, he, unfortunately, gave Corletto and the Steelers one more opportunity making just one of his two free throws. Corletto had 2 chances way beyond the arc, unable to convert putting the game to overtime. With Western Port scoring the first basket of overtime, the game went back and forth in the short 5 minutes. Again, Guley was put to the line down up by 1 this time the put the game to a 3-point margin. Corletto had another opportunity to tie the game in overtime yet was unable to get a clean enough shot giving the overtime win to the Dragons.

Sunbury 74 Def. Camberwell 72
After a tough loss the night before, Sunbury faced the Dragons on Sunday away from home coming away with their 2nd win for the season. After a slow start, falling behind at the end of the 1st 29 to 14, both Camberwell and Sunbury struggled to find the bottom of the net scoring just 14 points apiece in the 2nd leading to the halftime break. It was after the break that Sunbury turned the game around and made their move, closing the gap and having a big 4th quarter. Down by 1 in the dying seconds, Andersson gets a tip-off a Camberwell pass with the ball falling to Conn. Taking the ball down the other end and a quick hitter set, the ball gets to Andersson in the corner off a quick extra pass from Conn who drills the corner 3pt to put the Jets up by 2 with just over 10 seconds left. A big win for the Jets as they begin to get some wins on the board!

Gippsland United 116 Def. Chelsea 102
A massive scoreline saw Gippsland United overpower Chelsea in a 102 to 116 win. A heavily offensive-driven game saw 10 players score over 10 points for both teams combined. Gippsland United scored +30 points in 2 quarters with Chelsea managing to score over 24 points in each quarter, this does beg the question of how much defence was played at both ends. Aaron Frost finished with a massive 30-point 10 rebound performance shooting 63% from the field with Elijah Davy finishing with 23 of his own to go with 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Unfortunately, these individual accolades were not enough as 4 out of United’s 5 starters scored +10 points with O’Brien and Gooiker getting to 10 points off the bench. A great offensive team performance by United shooting 51% for the game!

Melbourne University 74 Def. Bellarine 67
A well-earned upset win by Melbourne University as they take down the Bellarine Storm by 7 points. Getting off to a quick start, Melbourne University led at the half-time break by 11 points 44 to 33, holding off Bellarine's late run in the 2nd quarter. A late charge saw Melbourne University win the first quarter as Bellarine were looking to close the gap, again unable to get close enough in the 4th even with Georgia Varley scoring the last 9 points of the game. Seraphina Newton added value to the bench with 10 points drilling 2 threes. Meera Coburn came away as a player of the game with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Georgia Varley did all she could leading the scorers with 20 points but was unable to get her girls over the line.

Craigieburn 92 Def. Melton 90
A wild ride between Craigieburn and Melton in a high-scoring game with the outcome of the game falling at the last 2 possessions. Melton having a very up-and-down game already scoring 30 in quarters 1 and 3 to then scoring less than 20 in quarters 2 and 4, but they still managed to keep themselves alive. Craigieburn on the other hand had a consistent offensive game yet struggled to string defensive efforts together. Getting to the last 10 seconds, Craigieburn down by 1-point still operating in their offence find themselves in a middle ball screen with Hassall popping and stepping into a rhythm 3pt that looks in the second it left his hand! Melton had a last opportunity which gave them a great look hoping to put the game to overtime. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be.

Gippsland United 86 Def. Surfcoast 73
Gippsland United remain undefeated as they bring their record to a perfect 10 wins after one of their closer games against Surfcoast. Surfcoast proved they can be competitive for the majority of the game just losing their footing as the game closed out giving up 29 points in the 4th quarter. The Chargers starting 5 all scored above 10 points for the game with Jessica Scannell at the helm with 21. Tara McKenzie was the only scorer off the bench struggling from the field herself. Gippsland United again proved to be too strong with Lauren Tuplin as the top scorer for the game with 29 points to go with 7 rebounds and 8 assists. A high offensive rebounding competition saw many second-chance baskets from both teams showing the competitiveness to keep fighting.

Ringwood 100 Def. Melbourne Tigers 83
A wild ride over at The Rings with an almost full rostered Ringwood took to the Melbourne Tigers in a 4-quarter battle. With the biggest lead extending out to 17 points in the 4th quarter by the Hawks, the game was within only a few possessions for the majority of the game. No team made a scoring run over 10 points and no team had seen a performance like this so far this season in Youth Championship Men. Only his 3rd game back down in Youth League after being with NBL1 Harrison Sealey went for something incredible. Scoring a vicious 50-piece shooting 70% from the field, 5 3pt, 7 from 11 from the charity stripe and not one midrange pull-up, 3s, paint finishes or free throws. Finishing with half of Ringwood’s total, was little to nothing the Tigers could do to stop him.

Kilsyth 70 Def. Diamond Valley 69
In their first of 2 games this season, it was the Cobras who only just took out game 1 of their conference series. Both teams making a run for finals sitting in the top 4 of the Watson conference, there was an expectation that this was going to be competitive. Aleisha Cadee was once again scoring at will finishing with 20 points, paired with her new teammate Lucy Oakford who has been very impressive off the bench for Diamond Valley with 17 points. Unfortunately for the Eagles, it was by the hands of Gemma Hancock who put a back bucket off Gartner’s free throw putting the Cobras up by 1 with under 30 seconds left. Gemma stands over 190cm tall, something you just can’t teach nor box out when she’s locked in, and the game is on the line. A great win by the Cobras as they take the initial head-to-head win.

Coburg 83 Def. Altona 80
Coburg are beginning to find their form, winning 2 of their last 3 games. This was no easy feat as the game went back and forth throughout the entire 4-quarters. Varied scoring runs from both Coburg and Altona with the Gators taking the biggest margin in the 3rd by 14. Julian Yammouni showed up late drilling an end-of-shot clock 3pt at the top of the key with a minute left on the clock putting the Giants up by 1 point. Altona had chances yet could not convert in the paint, having to foul down the other end to gain possession back. Adut sent to the line making 1 from 2 pushing the lead to 2-points before a time out to advance the ball for the Gators. Again, with opportunities, the Gator couldn’t convert having to foul again to get one last possession. Coburg held their ground and made free throws when they counted taking the win.

Eltham 76 Def. McKinnon 75
A dramatic ending to this Youth Women’s game as it was all McKinnon until the second last possession. The Cougars had the lead the entire game, branching it out to 21 points in the second quarter. Kayla Welsh was performing along with Keane and Leonard holding down this undefeated team for as long as they could. Fast forward to the last 15 seconds, Keane found the shot clock running down with an opportunity to get to the ring yet was contested well and couldn’t find the bottom of the ring. Anna Burrows found the ball off the rebound and was fouled putting her to the line clutching both free throws to give Eltham their first lead of the game. McKinnon without a timeout had to go and got as good of an opportunity as they could, unfortunately, unable to drop. An amazing effort from Eltham to chip their way back and remain the only undigested team in Youth One Women.

Wallan 94 Def. Melbourne University 88
A massive 4th quarter effort by the Panthers to take out a strong Melbourne University unit by just 6 points. Winning the 4th quarter 37 to 27 to take the W, it was very much a team performance by the Panthers with 5 players finishing in double figures. Snapping Melbourne Universities 4 game winning streak, Wallan were able to disrupt and force turnovers to generate their offence. Sebastian Villegas came away with 23 points as the leading scorer for the Panthers shooting an efficient 71%. Ben Fewster had a massive 24-point 20 rebound double-double for the game, 8 of his 20 rebounds being offensive. Wallan now creeping into the finals picture needing to string some wins together moving forward.

Mornington 75 Def. Blackburn 69
A close battle between the Breakers and Vikings as it was only the 2nd quarter where Mornington took hold, keeping the Vikings to just 8 points. In all 3 other quarters, it couldn’t have been closer, even with Blackburn edging closer winning the 4th by 4 points. Snapping 2 game winning streak by the Vikings, Mornington are now 4 games on the trot sealing their 2nd position on the ladder. Bridget Morrison was big for the Breakers scoring 18 points along with Sarah Davenport with an almost double-double walking away with 8 points to go with 17 rebounds. Blackburn’s minutes were spread across the board well with all adding value when stepping on the floor led by Sophia Ziebell.
