U20 and Ivor Burge National Championships have been hotly contested in Geelong over the past six days.
We had seven teams compete in the tournament, across Under 20 Men’s and Women’s and Ivor Burge Men and Ivor Burge 3 x 3 Women’s competitions.
Our Victorian teams had some stand out performances with our Under 20 Vic Women, Ivor Burge Vic Women and Ivor Burge Men all making it to their respective Grand Finals, while our Under 20 Men won the right to play for a bronze medal.
The final medal tally for Victoria was:
- Ivor Burge Women- Gold
- Ivor Burge Men- Silver
- Under 20 Women- Silver
- Under 20 Men- Bronze
There were also individual standout performances by our Ivor Burge athletes, with Montana Haag winning MVP for the women’s competition and Jack Innella winning Best Defensive Player for the men’s competition.
Victorian technical officials also had a successful campaign with four Victorian referees chosen to officiate Grand Final games:
- Under 20 Women's Grand Final- Shania Watson
- Under 20 Men's Bronze medal game- Cameron Crees
- Under 20 Women's Bronze medal game- Kash Gaitely
- Ivor Burge Women's Bronze medal game- Brett Tamar Aisen
Our Navy Women’s team and Navy Men’s team can also hold their heads high with the grit and determination they brought to the court throughout the tournament, both teams just missing out on the chance to play for a medal.
Congratulations to those who medalled and thank you to all the athletes, coaches, support staff, officials, volunteers and family who represented us proud all week at a great event.
